Man, it sounds like I missed all of the ruckus where I was.  I was standing like 15 feet back of Brian and everybody seemed cool.  We moved up a little closer to the stage towards the end of the show but things must have calmed down by then.  The band sounded great and the horns fit in perfectly on both new and old songs.  It was cool to finally hear the new songs live with horns, they fill out the songs live.  The only addition to the setlist that was already posted was Last Night in Town was played right after Joining the Army.  It was good to meet you guys even though it was kind of brief.  I'm planning to go to the Athens show too so maybe we can meet up there as well.

This is Rob Right?

yep.

By the time we met you Rob we were battered and bruised and pretty much just ready to get the hell outta there. Did I mention I lost my keys and had to search that nasty ass floor for them. They were so sticky when I found them I didnt even want to touch them. And given it took me around 35 minutes to find them, you'd have thought that one of the "security" guys or the cop outside would have walked me to my car... which probably wasnt brilliant asking a cop to walk me to my car when i had clearly been drinking, but I smelled more like the whiskey that was poured on me than the amount I consumed.... but to  my surprise, neither of them would. They said theres someone in the lot..... ok but how about the fifty crack heads on the corner I have to pass before I get to the lot.

haha, that sucks about your keys but at least you found them.  It was good to meet you though.  When we were leaving I was going to say goodbye but I think you were yelling at some guy and I couldn't tell if you were really angry of just messing with the guy.  I had a lot to drink that night so maybe that is not right.

Don't include Memphis OR north Mississippi in this generalization, please.

I take that as a compliment. We get rowdy for Lucero in the South. After all, it is SOUTHERN rock

Saying 'southern rock' is the same thing as saying 'rock rock.'
Think about it.

The Nashville show was great except for a few assholes in the crowd. They are too rowdy or I’m too old. Either way, time for me to move towards the back of the crowd. I was unsure of how the horns would fit with the older songs, but I thought they sounded pretty damn cool. All the new songs rocked live. Like the other two shows, Ben stayed pretty sober. Anxious to see them in Asheville, I hear the Orange Peel is a good venue.

thats pretty much my thoughts exactly. kinda makes me mad when people who dont know how to act get so bad i almost feel like leaving. damn shame.

I've also faced up to the fact that I'm no longer a front of the stage guy.  Turns out, I just don't really like children.  Don't like `em at restaurants, don't like `em at museums or zoos, and I sure as hell don't like `em at Lucero shows.  Lucero is not a moshing band.  Go learn how to handle your booze in some college dorm room, then come back when you're able to keep your drunk on the inside.

I'd like to reiterate that I hate it when people are talking at a rock show.  They're in the crowd, looking at each other and yelling because it's so loud.  Please go the fuck outside, have your conversation, then come back in when you're ready to shut up and listen.

I still go to the front, depending on the show.  When Lucero played the plaza a month ago, the crowd was great.  It may have been the lack of booze... ?

Ha this has turned into a show complaint thread.

I'm old and being up front makes me feel like i'm 15 again. The last show in philly was like a slightly less violent punk show but with very few stage diving idiots. I hate being kicked in the head. I'm also 6 3 285 so I don't get pushed around too much

last night's show in richmond was pretty subdued. one guy was crowd surfing at the end of the night, got dropped and didn't see that again...band sounded awfully good...was sad that the trumpet guy didn't use a PBR can like he did the night before in Carrboro, also a kick-ass show...now, on to DC tonight!!

Come to Beale Street Music Fest next year and escort me through the crowds to the front, please!
