The Nashville show was great except for a few assholes in the crowd. They are too rowdy or I’m too old. Either way, time for me to move towards the back of the crowd. I was unsure of how the horns would fit with the older songs, but I thought they sounded pretty damn cool. All the new songs rocked live. Like the other two shows, Ben stayed pretty sober. Anxious to see them in Asheville, I hear the Orange Peel is a good venue.
I feel like I'm about 80. Definitely back of the crowd from now on. Can't wait to explain the bruises at work tomorrow.

I Nashville, we took our usual spot right in front of Brians monitor, but about halfway through the show I was just over it...too many idiots for me.
I went and got a beer, hung out toward the center of the room, and enjoyed the sound - which is about 100 times better than it is up front!
In Atlanta, I stayed on the tour bus and watched the UF vs LSU game with Todd and Brian, and completely missed both opening acts. It also kept me out of the front row, which was fine with me. I stayed back, by the sound board and enjoyed the mix, then when and relieved Mary for a few minutes and sold some merch.
As for the horns, there will be another player joining the tour soon, but he had some previous engagments to take care of first. Both of the guys are really cool, and they were having a great time....and they sounded awesome!!!
I'm not sure what to think about the dude who spent a good part of the show last night yelling "Lose the horns, Ben!".....some people just aren't willing to appreciate change, I guess.
Two good shows, many miles covered via car, and happy to be back home...but I am looking forward to next month and the Florida dates!!!!

I'm not sure I could handle someone yelling out to lose the horns repeatedly.

That was at the Atlanta show? I never heard that. I'm sure he would've gotten his ass beat by someone if he was in the front part of the crowd. I think even Levi liked the horns!

Hahaha. Loved the horns. That was one of the top three Lucero shows I've ever been to. Had a blast. And yes, it did get pretty rowdy. But I'm a big guy and enjoy the rowdy aspect. Although I can def. see where it's not fun for girls. And any guy in there whose shoving girls around needs an ass beating. That said, great show. Can't wait to see the boys again. The trumpets were there, but they used them in all the right spots. It wasn't over done. I was pretty skeptical at first, but it turned out perfect

Right side of the room, facing the stage, about halfway back. If you couldn't hear it, then they probably couldn't hear it on stage either.

Yeah...I worry more about the wife and friends than I do myself. I know that I can handle it, but the stress of trying to "protect" 2, 3 or 4+ women just grates on me after a while. I guess I didn't get to meet you, man....sorry. I talked to Lisa and Brit for a couple of minutes after the show, but everything else was pretty blurry.

I have to go on the record to say that the Atlanta show was both the best and the worst I have ever been to. One of the best performances, sound Etc from the boys by far. I love the new big sound. I have NEVER experienced a crowd as obnoxious as the one Saturday night. From the girls in front of Brit and I who were jumping up and down " oh my god its Ben Nichols" like hes a fucking Jonas Brother, to the asshole who not only hit her in the face but who left a huge knot on my eyebrow and cheekbone, to the chick who decided it was ok for some reason to stick her hand up my shirt, which obviously she didnt get the hint when I pushed her away so she decided to go for the gold, which got her grabbed by the throat. If it weren't for Mack - the giant guy who pretty much stood behind me the rest of the night ( thanks for the whishley mack , it actually mellowed me out) night I probably would have left in alot more pain than I did. I am used to the occasional rowdy dumbass, who gets an elbow and backs the fuck off, but this show was absolutely filled with assholes. And the worst part of it was it was a first show for so many people. Keeping my fingers crossed that Athens is not all ages, and that even though it's smack dab in the middle of College Heaven that the crowd is more respectful, not just of " the girls" "most" of us are more than able to take care of ourselves, we've been around the Block a few times for sure ( keep your nasty comments to yourself ) but to the band. A shitty crowd for a first timer... could make for a last timer and thats not fair. On a lighter note, I did get some shots in, a few good ones, it was hard though, I did get some video which I'll have a link to soon, I didn't move from the bed for two days, and it's still hard to breath my ribs hurt so bad. but the pics are on FB , for those of you who are friends.

That's exactly what the Macon show was like, but they stopped playing fast songs so everyone would calm down. My ribs are pretty sore still too. 40 Watt is 18 and up so expect more of the same. I'll be standing behind the mosh pit this time. Levi, thanks for not getting mad when I kept confiscating your beer but really, I didn't want to wear all of it! Rob it was good to meet you too I guess I can't call you a stalker anymore I dont think the guys could hear much of anything, otherwise Ben would've yelled at us for calling out Wish Me Luck like he always does.

I just remembered something - you looked at me and said - if you see a guy in a studded belt, punch him.... that was like atleast 1/2 the people there. Im taking pics and video for athens staying in the back, ordered my new lens.... mellow show for me, I'll get shitty for the revival. I was so planning on going to Charleston the next night... I could not get out of bed. I would like to say that meeting Scott, Amanda, and Catie was a treat, very cool people, and Of course cannot leave out Mary, she was a doll.

Man, it sounds like I missed all of the ruckus where I was. I was standing like 15 feet back of Brian and everybody seemed cool. We moved up a little closer to the stage towards the end of the show but things must have calmed down by then. The band sounded great and the horns fit in perfectly on both new and old songs. It was cool to finally hear the new songs live with horns, they fill out the songs live. The only addition to the setlist that was already posted was Last Night in Town was played right after Joining the Army. It was good to meet you guys even though it was kind of brief. I'm planning to go to the Athens show too so maybe we can meet up there as well.

So, you're saying that my year or so of going to hardcore/death metal shows totally prepared me for the current Lucero crowds? AWESOME!
It still cracks me up to think about people moshing at a Lucero show, I've never seen that before.
Sucks you gals got so beat up though!
