I'm gonna go ahead and say it, this tour is the best tour of this fall, maybe of this year.

Tonight's show was so fucking good. The horns fit right in on songs like That Much Further West and My Best Girl, and the new songs are sosososososo great live.

If this is just the first show of the tour, I'm really fucking right on when saying this. Prepare to be blown away.

Oh, and if tonight is any indication, this is going to be a sober tour, at least moreso than past tours. It means less worrying for me. For all you frat boy lurkers, try not to be assholes sending shots to the stage. It's ok for the rest of us cause we know when it's the right night to do it, but you frat boys best back off. (Can you tell I had to stand next to a few assholes for a couple hours?)

Tomorrow is not going to come soon enough.  And your frat boy comment just cracks me up.  Thats something I would've said except we have at least one frat boy and one guy we call a frat boy even though he's not in our group.

They were tossing around a 3 year old for fuck's sake! I was half watching the show, half watching to make sure the kid didn't get hurt. At least one of them was ok to be around, but the rest....fuck.

It was a damn good show, though. You won't be disappointed with anything. I'm so excited to read what you've all got to say.

So the Atlanta show was crazy!  They opened with Sounds of the City then played That Much Further West which made me laugh because I thought they were over playing that first.  I want to say they played every song off the new album except Goodbye Again and Halfway Wrong.  Ben told some story about how Mom almost didn't make the record but the sound was terrible and we could never understand what anyone said on stage.  I think Lisa recorded this one.

The horns played on about half the songs and were pretty sweet.  On the majority of songs they blended in so well that you didn't even think about them being there.  They sounded awesome on Tears Don't Matter Much.  You'll love how Sixes and Sevens sounded live.  The horn guys (a trumpet and sax) said they'd only been on tour for two days and it was the most fun they'd had in their life.

The boys stayed pretty sober, though Ben probably drank about a third of a bottle of Jameson throughout the show.  John C talked more than I'd ever seen him talk on stage but once again, no clue what he was saying.  There was only once instance of forgotten words but I think they stayed away from the rarities (though they did play Hold Fast and I'll Just Fall).  So a great show musically.

In other news, I think I've finally outgrown the front row.  I always go home from a Lucero show with a few bruises from the moshers and people pushing but last night was ridiculous.  They had the security gap between the crowd and the stage but unfortunately no security there.  I got hit by two stage divers.  The second left a cut over my eye and a bruised and swollen bridge of my nose from where he hit my glasses.  Fortunately my eye didn't turn black like I thought it would.  The left side of my ribs are bruised so badly that it's painful to move or breathe deeply.  I really hate 18 and up shows (no offense Natalie!).

I tried to get Todd Beene to slip me an early copy of the new Glossary album and he just laughed.  I told him that I had tried to get it from Autopsy4 but he was only sent a single track and he was like "ohh, I forgot about that" so Bryan if you get a copy you totally have to share it with me.  Todd said Glossary's going to open for Lucero again in February and March and I think they might go on their own tour before that.

Only 1 sax player? Fuck, we had 2 and it was a huge sound, but awesome. Tears Don't Matter Much IS really great with horns, I agree.

Eh, not offended.  I've been a pro at shows since the age of 15. Some folks my age don't know how to act, amateurs.

The Nashville show was great except for a few assholes in the crowd. They are too rowdy or I’m too old. Either way, time for me to move towards the back of the crowd. I was unsure of how the horns would fit with the older songs, but I thought they sounded pretty damn cool. All the new songs rocked live. Like the other two shows, Ben stayed pretty sober. Anxious to see them in Asheville, I hear the Orange Peel is a good venue.
